Scented Candles
are an amazing edition to any home, making your house smell however you want it
to. The only catch is that scented candles are often very costly, ranging from
$7 to $12. But by making them yourself you can save insane money, anywhere from
$5 to even $15 per candle. This is why I love making candles myself over buying
them. So let's get into it.
What You Will Need
- A glass container. Make sure that you like how it looks as well. You can get it either online or in a ninety nine scent store, your call. It shouldn't be too big or too small; about the size of a normal candle.
- A pack of 99 cent store candles. These should be without a case around them. Just a wick surrounded by wax.
- Essential oils. Get any flavor you want and don't worry about the cost since you will be using it to make multiple candles.
- Dye(Optional). This is if you want your candle any specific color. It will bring up the price slightly though.
Now that you have gathered all of your materials, let's get
started. The first thing you are going to want to do is melt the cheap candles
in a pot. Then take out the wicks. Set the wicks to
the side. It's right now that I would add the dye and essential oil. The dye
add as much as you want depending on how rich of a color you want and the
essential oil add around 10 to 20 drops depending on how large your candle
container is. A good rule I use is 10 drops per ounce of wax. Once you stir
everything together, pour the liquid wax into you're container. Take your
wicks and attach them to your wooden pins. Put the wooden pin on your container
so that the wick is submerged fully in the wax and put in a cold place like a
fridge or freezer. Leave it to cool until hardened (usually overnight). Enjoy.
In the close future I will make a tutorial on how to decorate your DIY candles, make sure to look out for that.
That's it for now, I hope to see you on my next post. Later!
